This is a can’t miss episode! We’re mixing up a lighter version of a Moscow Mule this week. Our secret is swapping out the sugary ginger beer for ginger kombucha.
Here’s a little comparison: 4 ounces of ginger beer contains almost 20 grams of added sugar while ginger kombucha contains just 4 grams. That’s a big difference for one cocktail! The American Heart Association currently recommends that women consume less than 6 teaspoons of added sugar per day. Drinking two traditional Moscow Mules will definitely take you over that recommendation.
Kombucha is a fermented tea that’s known for its gut-friendly probiotics. Not only does it taste like the real deal Moscow Mule, but it provides health benefits. Kombucha contains antioxidants that help to fight free radicals in the body that may cause inflammation. Volunteer to make this cocktail for your next girl’s night in.
Kombucha Moscow Mule
½ ounce fresh lime juice
1.5 ounces vodka
4 oz ginger kombucha
Lime wedge, for garnish
Fresh mint, for garnish
Preparation:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice then add lime juice and vodka and briefly shake. Strain into a copper mug filled with ice and top with kombucha. Garnish with lime and mint.
Recipe Tips:
Be careful to always add your kombucha last and never shake it. It’s filled with natural carbonation that will certainly bubble over! Not a vodka fan? This drink can be made with whiskey or bourbon and called a “Kentucky Mule” instead.
