Change is hard. It’s uncomfortable. But it is also how you grow.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where vodka sounded like a good idea for lunch? Maybe it isn’t vodka, maybe it’s something else, but you know what I mean! You feel overwhelmed, maybe a little (or a lot) emotional and just all over the place.  Well, here I am, fresh off one of those weeks. Not to mention Mercury Retrograde started, which basically means communication can get mixed up, things can break or won’t work for no apparent reason, and struggle seems to land smack dab in the middle of everything you try to accomplish. Maybe you have heard of Mercury Retrograde before or maybe not. When mentioned, it’s usually along the lines of wait to sign contracts, offer people more grace when communicating etc.  But there is also a huge benefit to Mercury Retrograde, and that is getting rid of anything in your life big or small that isn’t working or serving your best, most authentic self.

Change is hard. It’s uncomfortable. But it is also how you grow.

It’s how you come closer to that bright, vibrant, shining, most amazing version of yourself! One of my absolute favorite sayings is “the hard times put the shine in your diamond.” Sometimes those changes are huge changes like leaving a relationship or a job you have loved for so long because it just isn’t a good fit anymore. Or maybe the change is something smaller like literally finding that moment of calm in your day, every day for a week just to get started with a healthier habit.

A healthier, more balanced feeling “you” isn’t too far out of your reach. It’s also not something that will take you forever and a day to find. It can literally be as simple as finding your one moment of calm, day after day after day. Repetition is the key to mastery.  Repeat your moment of the calm day in and day out, and before you know it, you are well on your way to mastering that calm.  It’s simple, but not always easy. Take from the girl who seriously considered drinking her lunch on more than one occasion last week.

You guys, it’s not always easy… I know that. But it is worth it.

This week we add in Sun Salutation B. We keep moving forward. We repeat until we start to feel (even if it’s only a little bit) like masters of our own lives. You can do one round or 10 rounds. You may not always have control over what life throws your way. One thing I know for sure is that you do have control over how you handle all of those situations. I know for sure, that you always have control over your breath. You can choose to breathe and link each breath with each movement. If you need a little more pep in your step, you can choose to practice the alternate nostril breathing from week one. If you need a little more calm, you can work with the breath retention from that same week. The thing is, you get to practice making those choices (I didn’t choose vodka for lunch by the way, as amazing as that sounded).

Every time you are faced with a challenge and you choose something different than you have done in the past, you lay the groundwork for creating new neuropathways in your brain (aka healthier habits).

Here are a couple of reasons sun salutations are so beneficial.  Sun sals are an awesome way to energize your body, improve circulation, purify your blood, and strengthen your physical body.  Even by doing just one round.

Keep showing up.  Keep putting one foot in front of the other.  Keep finding one moment of calm at a time and before you know it, your diamond will be shinning all over the place!

We are here to support you, so you can find and create better ways to support yourself (and put the shine that diamond!)

In support of each other, Namaste.
