Unconditional Support | The Sports Bra Project

It takes a lot to step onto the court. The adrenaline pumping through your veins. The pressure of winning a game. The competition staring you in the face. And if you don’t have the right gear, it can feel like your body is working against you.

At SHEFIT, we want to remove the physical and emotional barriers that hold women back. To educate girls on the importance of finding a sports bra that fits and supports. To empower every woman to play her best and stay in the game. To put her in total control.

We believe every woman and girl deserves to feel comfortable and confident – so she can go as hard as she wants, with nothing holding her back. That’s why we’ve partnered withThe Sports Bra Project (TSBP)– to provide sports bras to athletes who don’t have access to such an empowering, game-changing piece of gear.

The Sports Bra Project was started by Sarah Dwyer-Shick - as a way to increase access to sports for women and girls by removing one barrier to participation: inadequate support.

After a career working in college and youth sports the idea began to take shape. Five years ago, after distributing the first bras to a soccer program in Namibia, Africa she realized that lack of this basic piece of equipment was a global issue that crossed boundaries of sports and geography.

TSBP provides new sports bras to girls & women in areas where the lack of access to this basic piece of equipment can prevent participation in sports. While the barriers to sports participation are varied they often include a combination of cultural, economic and logisticalconcerns. Normalizing the needs of girls and women in sports is the first step to increasing access and participation.

In celebration of National Girls & Women in Sport Day on February 3, 2021, SHEFIT & TSBP are partnering together to deliver support for women in sport at every level. We want to expand women’s and girl’s participation in sport to be just as common as boys and men in sport. To get them excited about what their bodies are capable of.

Let’s talk about our boobs more, ladies. No one should feel ashamed or embarrassed of their chest, no matter what size. Every body deserves to be supported and in control, on and off the field. Together, we can welcome the ones who haven’t been able to participate and encourage them to get in the game. We can inspire others to stay in the game – to go harder, faster, longer in the right gear. We can motivate them to take control of their future with game-changing support. Stand with us to help remove the barriers– so we can all participate in sport without holding anything back.
