HOW TO DO A SELF BREAST EXAM
- Stand in front of a mirror: With your shoulders straight and arms at your sides, look for any visible changes (shape, size, or color), swelling, or dimpling of the skin.
- Raise your arms: Lift your arms and check for the same visual changes in both breasts.
- Check for fluid: Gently squeeze your nipples to see if any fluid comes out (milky, yellow, or bloody).
- Lie down and feel your breasts: Use the pads of your fingers to feel your entire breast in a circular motion. Press gently, then firmly, covering the entire area from the collarbone to the top of the abdomen and from the armpit to the cleavage.
- Repeat while standing or sitting: Some women find it easier to feel changes in the shower. Repeat the circular motions while standing or sitting, covering the entire breast area.
